The Way Out West Tent's final event for 2004 will take place on the evening of Tuesday, November 30th at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. In conjunction with the American Cinematheque, we will jointly present Laurel & Hardy's Babes in Toyland in 35mm on the 70th anniversary of the film's original opening. The Oscar winning short The Music Box will also be shown. Following the film, author and film historian Richard W. Bann will interview Dick Jones, Joy Lane, and Payne Johnson, all of whom appeared in Babes in Toyland.
This special screening will begin at 7:30 pm and admission will be free to all Way Out West members who have paid their dues for 2004. Non-members may purchase tickets for $7 at the door from Lori Jones McCaffery. Because this is a special event, guest passes will not be accepted.
The Egyptian Theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard. Parking is available at many nearby lots, including the Hollywood & Highland lot and the Prestige Parking lot on Las Palmas, north of Hollywood Boulevard. For additional information, please contact the Egyptian Theater at (323) 466-3456 or visit their website at www.egyptiantheatre.com.
Prior to the November 30th screening, a 45-minute tour of the Egyptian Theatre will be offered to our members beginning at 5:30 pm. Advanced tickets are required for this tour at a cost of $7 per person ($5 for children under 12 and seniors over 65). If you wish to attend, please contact Bob Satterfield as soon as possible at (909) 883-5167. The deadline to sign up will be November 29th. At the conclusion of the tour, there will be about an hour to have dinner before the film program begins.

The dinner will take place at the West L.A. College Library Building. Tickets for the banquet are $50 each.

The Way Out West Tent's Annual Celebrity Banquet took place October 2nd at the Beverly Garland Hotel in North Hollywood. The event honored both past and present celebrities of the Way Out West Tent.
Following dinner, guests enjoyed a video featuring all 106 Laurel and Hardy films condensed into little more than two minutes. After a raffle, celebrity guests were introduced. Some celebrities in attendance took the stage to share their memories of working for Hal Roach and with the Boys. Celebrities not present were honored on video through clips and photos from previous events. First time attendee, Marjorie Campbell, was made an honorary tent member, for her part as the baby in Their First Mistake. Longtime member Dick Jones (perhaps best known as the voice of Walt Disney's Pinocchio) was given the Way Out West Lifetime Achievement award.
